Fort William to Roybridge – Back and Forth

Hello; how are you? Good, good. How can I help you……oh God, I’m fed up with this stupid approach to a travel blog al(bloody)ready. Why can’t I just tell you what I’ve done and put in photos. After all, everyone who looks at this blog is only interested in the photos. So why tell you what I’ve bloody well done when it just gets in the way of you looking at the photos? Here are the bloody photos.

Hole in my head giving me gip last night. Five years on the b’stard still urts.
On the bus down to Fort William at 07.19 am hundred hours to start the trek. This is early mist on Loch Eil and snow on the top of Sgùrr Ghiubhsachain.
Walking back to Spean Bridge from Fort William. Who could resist the call?
Been to Spean, picked up my rucksack, had fish and chips and continued on the East Highland Way. First time I’ve seen lichen so thick on a tree that bracken grows on it!
Christmas trees and bracken on lichen on a tree trunk takes the biscuit.
The Ben Nevis range north face
I’m following the River Spean on the south side, which is remote, and wild camping is the only option.
The river comes to an unexpected shallow rapid which might be fordable. There is an Inn only a mile away from the far bank.
The old fool made it across the river. Only because it hasn’t rained for a couple of weeks otherwise the sad loser would have drowned. Have a nice life.
An ancient mill with the course of the stream to the right of the building.
David found the Inn and took a photo of the Ben Nevis range from the car park . He’s so clever.

Night night.
